What does "Paseo del Rio" mean?
"Paseo del Rio" is the Spanish translation for River Walk, or literally Walk of the River.

Is there a fee to go to the River Walk?
Absolutely not! The River Walk is considered a city park and is, in fact, maintained and operated by the City of San Antonio Downtown and River Walk Operations. In other words, it is public space!

When and who drains the River Walk every year.
The River is drained each year in January by the City of San Antonio Department of Downtown Operations. For more information on the draining, you can visit them at their web site www.sanantonio.gov/dtops/riverdrain.asp
Below are the dates they have set for future draining:

2008: Jan. 2-9
2009: Jan. 2-9
2010: Jan. 3-12
2011: Jan. 3-11
2012: Jan. 2-8
2013: Jan. 2-10.

How do we get a boat ride?
Rio San Antonio Cruises is the boat ride company that offers tours on a boat. You can purchase tickets for the tour at the these locations on the river: Rivercenter Mall, across from the Hilton Hotel. What is the cost of a boat ride?
Fares are as follows:
$2.00 Children (1-5 yrs old)
$7.75 Adults
$5.00 Senior Citizens, Active Duty Military & Bexar County Residents (with proper ID)
Rio Taxi (Rio Trans) tickets are $4.00 one way, 24 hour pass $10.00 and 3 day pass $25.00.

Is there a place to get married on the River Walk?
There is! It is called Marriage Island and is located across from the CPS building. Reservations & Fees must be requested through the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department at 210-207-7275.

Where does the river end?
The San Antonio joins the Guadalupe River and flows all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.

Is there a river taxi?
There is a shuttle on the river. It is operated by the same company that does the boat rides but without the tour. Rio Taxi is available 7 days a week from (9:00 am to 9:00 pm). Tickets are available at locations and various hotels on the River Walk - ask your front desk.Rio Taxi ticket can be purchased right on board from the driver. www.riosanantonio.com

Where Can I Park my RV or Bus Downtown?
Out-of-town visitors may park their buses at the Travis Park parking meters The cost is $7.00 for buses occupying a single space and $14.00 for larger buses occupying two spaces. Arrangements need to be made in advance on a first-come basis with the Traffic Division at (210) 207-7755.

Are dogs allowed on the River Walk?
Dogs are allowed on the River Walk, but they must be leashed. The River Walk offers over 2 miles of walkways and passes by many outdoor restaurants and shops. Some of the outdoor restaurants are dog-friendly, please call ahead to check if the business allows dogs.
